"Physiologists should think before puttind down the instinct of self-preservation as the cardinal instinct of an organic being. A living thing seeks about all to DISCHARGE its strength - life itself is WILL TO POWER; self-preservation is only one of the indirect and most frequent RESULTS.
In short, here as everywhere else, let us beware of SUPERFLUOUS teleological principles - one of which is the instinct of self-preservation (we owe it to Spinoza's inconsistency). Thus method, which must be essentially economy of principles, demands it."

-Friederich Nietzsche; Beyond Good and Evil

With this peculiar thought in mind, let me go over my thoughts on the subject. Suicide is misconstrued these days, and many people claim to be suicidal only in order to grab attention from others, however that is not the point i meant to make. Suicide can be a powerful solace, many people look at it, and realize all this can end with a slight flick of the wrist and an incision through and through the throat. Clear cut, and everything is gone. This can be a powerful feeling, to know that your life is in your hands, and noone can undermine you from it. Many philosophers and many theologians have made many different attempts to control the thought of suicide, one of which, is that you will forever be forsaken, and abandoned by God; hence, you will never enter the gates of heaven. Others, such as Psychologists to this day, view it as some sort of ailment, one that can be CURED of all things. The act of suicide, in my opinion, is not nearly as dangerous as the thought that accompanies it, because that, my friends, is where the problem lies. Shall we believe the Stoics in saying it is against the "nature" or humans to commit suicide, or shall we look at life as a will to power, like Nietzsche proclaims? In all retrospect, we can't know whether suicide is justified, whether by personal morals, or an allmighty system of law. Suicide, however, does affect others surrounding the individual... should that be the ultimate factor here, shall we LIVE for others? To be so depressed in life that suicide is the only solace, is it possible to not think for yourself, and only stay alive for the sake of others? That is the basis of argument against suicide in this day and age, ïf not for yourself, then for another" they proclaim. That is a ridiculous attempt to control suicide in my opinion, why NOT think for yourself? Must everyone else's opinion's affect your ultimate decision, even those you don't care about? Many people will say, "Oh don't do it, you will regret it, I like you just the way you are, and I will be your friend, I WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY." To this, i say fuck you to eternal damnation. No matter what, I say you postulate your own thoughts, and come to, hopefully, the right decision, whether it be to perform the act, or to continue living. Maybe my morals are misconstrued, but I don't believe that anyone has any relevance to your ultimate decision. Oh well, maybe I'll have more thoughts on the subject on another day and time... for i am done now.
